Terms of Service

Effective April 11, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Talora mobile application and website at talora.online (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Talora is a marketplace platform that connects students with teachers for in-person and virtual lessons across a variety of skills and subjects. Talora facilitates the connection, booking, payment, and communication between users but is not itself a provider of teaching services. Teachers are independent service providers, not employees of Talora.

3. User Accounts

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old. Users between 13 and 17 require a parent or guardian to manage their account through the Parent Dashboard
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials and not share them with others
  • Notify us immediately at hello@talora.online of any unauthorized use of your account

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Teacher Requirements

Teachers on Talora must:

  • Complete identity verification and pass a criminal background check
  • Provide accurate information about their qualifications, experience, and skills
  • Maintain appropriate, professional conduct during all interactions with students
  • Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to their teaching activities
  • Maintain any licenses or certifications required for their teaching subject in their jurisdiction

Talora reserves the right to remove any teacher who fails to meet these requirements or receives consistent negative feedback from students.

5. Bookings and Payments

Students book lessons directly with teachers through the platform. Key terms:

  • Teachers set their own hourly rates and session formats (in-person, online, or both)
  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Talora does not handle or store your payment card details
  • Talora charges a service fee on each booking, which is displayed before you confirm
  • Teacher earnings are deposited to their bank account on a regular payout schedule
  • Refund eligibility depends on the teacher's cancellation policy and the circumstances of the cancellation

6. Cancellation Policy

Each teacher sets their own cancellation policy, which is visible on their profile before you book. Students should review the cancellation policy before confirming a booking. Talora may mediate disputes between students and teachers regarding cancellations and refunds. In cases of repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations, Talora may take action including warnings, temporary suspension, or account removal.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or harm other users in any way
  • Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Circumvent the platform to avoid service fees (e.g., arranging off-platform payments after an initial booking)
  • Share another user's personal information without their explicit consent
  • Use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access the Service without written permission
  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Impersonate another person or entity

8. Content and Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you create on Talora, including profile information, reviews, messages, and uploaded materials. By posting content, you grant Talora a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with operating and promoting the Service.

The Talora name, logo, and all related marks, designs, and slogans are trademarks of Talora. You may not use them without our prior written permission.

9. Safety and Reporting

Talora takes the safety of all users seriously. If you experience or witness unsafe behavior, harassment, or any violation of these Terms, you can report it through the app or by emailing safety@talora.online. We investigate all reports and may take action including warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the platform. We may also report illegal activity to law enforcement when appropriate.

10. Limitation of Liability

Talora is a marketplace that connects students and teachers. We are not responsible for the quality of teaching services, the conduct of individual users, or any disputes between users. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Talora's total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid to Talora (in service fees) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, for safety reasons, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including liability, intellectual property, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with a change, you may delete your account before the updated Terms take effect.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of these courts.
